While ago, Prime Loops released “Neuro Trap“, a sample pack aimed (but not limited to) for such styles as Drum & Bass, Trap and Trap & Bass. It’s actually a combination of two popular genres, Neurofunk (which is a subgenre of Drum & Bass) and Trap.

What’s included in the package and how does the content sound like?

In total, the pack holds 340MB of 24 Bit sample material. You’ll find 808 bass loops, synth loops, vocals, drum loops, SFX and drum one-shots. Tempo of the loops ranges from 100 to 172 BPM.

For starters, I have to say that the production quality is crisp and polished as always in Prime Loops samples.

Those 808 style Trap bass loops hit hard in the 50 Hz area (and even below), but there’s life in the the low-mid area as well so if you use these as is in your mix, they should poke through quite nicely even when listened with a bit smaller speaker systems (though naturally, you can’t FEEL those wall shaking sub frequencies).

Synth loops -folder holds a set of monstrous and filthy reese lines. And I mean FILTHY. I think they sound really cool and fit perfectly for D&B and neuro stuff. There’s also couple of chords and Trap -style siren loops which sounds awesome as well.

For drums, the loops and one-shots folders offers that much needed punch and snap to make the rhythmic section of your tracks to rock. The drum loops works in Glitch-Hop style music as well. In addition to full loops there’s also a separate hihat-, snare-, clap- and kick loops. Overall, these are some mighty fine sounding drums! I especially liked those high pitched snare one-shots: very Koan Sound’ish.

To feed your sampler software, there’s also a multisamples folder which contains samples of the sounds used to create the bass-, lead- and reese loops. You can use these to create your own synth- and basslines.

In the vocals folder, you’ll find a collection of down pitched male vocal phrases/loops from 150 BPM to 172 BPM plus a handful of hey, ho, uh and oh chants à la style of urban genres. Dry and wet versions are in a separate folders. Wet versions are processed with delay and reverb effect. Good stuff.

Verdict: Neuro Trap is a really fine sounding package of high quality and polished Trap and D&B style samples and is surely a nice addition to every producers sample collection out there. My only complain is that I got a bit greedy and would’ve liked to see and hear more content.
