Broke Beats is a quite new sample pack in Mode Audio’s product range and it brings you a collection of drum loops, fills and hits in a style of hip hop, r&b and other urban genres.

Inside the package, there’s 120 drum loops in total (93 drum loops and 27 drum fill loops), 80 single drum hits and 120 MIDI loops (drum patterns and fills in MIDI format)

So how does the content sound like?

Focusing on the loops first, I would describe the overall sound modern, punchy and groovy with some grit. The loops has been programmed using a set of a good quality, drum machine style, clean and snappy drum samples. Drum sequencing itself follows that groovy style common to hip hop music and the included 27 drum fills supports the main drum loops nicely.

The 80 single drum hit samples are the same drum sounds that has been used to build the main loops. They sound really nice and I liked especially the kicks: plenty of snap and punch on there.

Then there’s the MIDI loops. These are the drum patterns of the main drum loops and fills as a MIDI note data. You can import these to your DAW and use the included drum samples (or your favourite ones) to play back the sequences and re-arrange them however you wish.

Verdict: Broke Beats is a very solid package of hip hop style drum loops and samples. The grooves are vintage hip hop and you’ll also get an access to the ‘core’ of the loops (MIDI sequences). The samples used to create the loops are included as a single hits so everything can be modified easily to fit your needs.

    Hi Petri Good day!
I found your music tutorial for FL studio in youtube . I became an instant fan of your artistic work. I learned alot from you, honestly I’d even say 80% of the techniques and style I use in programming comes from your tutorials. I started programming in FL studio 6 months ago. I am a keyboardist in a rock band but at the same time, I am a music writer writing for guitar/bass/keyboard/lyricist, I usually write songs in rock and pop and records my composition the traditional way using a hardware and records it into the studio, but things change when I heard ZEDD I fell in love with house music and its variants, I started researching about the genre and how it is made, then I found your videos and since then I studied religiously your techniques so I can incorporate it into my music production. I owe a lot from you, though I’m still very far from having skills like the way you do, I am an aspiring producer too using fl studio. I was able to complete 3 songs already since I found your videos. Id love to learn from your techniques and style. I think your talented and a big space is reserve for you in the music industry.
Id really love to get an input from someone who knows what they’re talking about, what I mean is I want someone who can listen to my house produce music and tell me what are the things that are lacking and missing, the things that are needed to be added or what im doing wrong, id love criticism from someone who really knows what they’re talking. Please let me know if you are open to this.
    Thanks & more power
