In reply to dee dee.

Hey Dee Dee,

There's a music making software called Magix Music Maker. It's an easy to use software where you can mix different kinds of ready made short sounds, riffs and effects together for full songs. It should give an idea how digital music production works, though the downside is that you're kind of restricted to build your songs based on those ready-made musical elements.

Anyway, if the interest stays or grows, I would suggest moving on to one of these music making softwares (there's demo versions available for each): FL Studio, Reason or Ableton Live. These are the kind of tools that countless of home musicians and professional use to make their music, but the learning curve is bit more steep compared to Magix Music Maker (there are other software as well, but in my opinion these three works best for electronic music).

Next step would be getting a MIDI keyboard and decent quality headphones and/or loudspeakers.

Hope this helps!
